If you are a runner then you probably understand the need of wearing the correct type of shoes. The shoes advertised as running shoes or sneakers will not work for the serious runner and actually armature runners should also be made aware that the wrong shoes can cause physical disabilities to feet and legs. Shoes especially made for sprinting like sprint spikes can enhance your performance on the track as well as safe guard the muscles and tendons in your body from injury.
A cross country runner wears shoes that have a longer spike on them. This is due to the need to fly through mud and muck without slipping and sliding. However wearing cross country shoes for track sprinting would be detrimental as the longer spikes would more then likely cause the runner to slip on harder ground. Sprint spikes are much better for such maneuvers.
Sprint spikes are a type of running shoe that is designed for speed and control. The shoes reinforce forward momentum and are characterized by stiff front soles, spikes in the toe area and very little padding and support to the heel area. This is because a runner doing sprints will spend more time on his toes then his heels. The reinforced toe section of sprint spikes combined with the lighter materials and the spikes in the toe are all combine to help the runner push off and control forward momentum for more speed. Any advantage in a race is a good advantage and sprint spikes can give a sprinter all the support needed.
If you were to compare a sprint spike shoe with a cross country shoe you would quickly see that a cross country shoe has longer spikes all through the sole of the shoe. These spikes allow the runner to “sink” into the ground for firm traction especially over uneven ground and even slippery mud terrain. The shoes help to not only keep the runner from falling but also give traction for more speed. Sprint spikes are not the same. The spikes are more in the toe area but the shoes do much the same thing. They keep the runner from slipping and give the runner greater stability. The differences are in the running. While both athletes are running the cross country runner will use more of the foot and thus less speed. The sprinter in his sprint spikes will mostly run on the toes and ball area of the foot. Therefore the two types of runners need different shoes and protection.

Every sport has proper gear you need to have in order to effectively compete. Some sports require an entire uniform with helmets and pads while other mainly consists of the right shoes. Sprint shoes, oddly enough considering the name, are shoes especially made for running at full speed for short distances. There are also shoes for cross country, pole vaulting and almost any other type of sport you can name.
The right running shoes give you a couple of advantages when on the track or in competition. Not only can the give your feet the correct scientific traction for your running type but the can also keep you from injury. A slip whole running can result in strained and sprained or pulled muscles. Some strains and sprains may only be a minor irritation resulting in a couple of days off though some can result in permanent injury. Sprint shoes are considered a safety precaution.
Another reason for the right shoes in traction over and above not slipping. Traction gives a runner an extra push against the ground to help them reach speed. Sprint shoes are especially made to add that extra push where a sprinter needs it the most, at the ball and toe.
The sprint shoes consist of a light weight material, thin flexible soles and very little support at the heel, stiff inflexible soles at the ball and toe and pointed spikes also at the ball and toe are.
When running a sprinter will usually use mostly the ball of the foot and toe area. The heel of a sprinter almost never touches the ground so of course all of the reinforcements are in the ball and toe area.
You should also always remember, no matter what the sport, you should replace your track shoes every 6 months or so. The spikes on the sprint shoes could become worn down and they will lose their traction and could actually become dangerous to wear. An uneven stride can cause uneven wear patterns and cause problems with the bones and muscles in your legs later as well.
You need the right shoe if you are going to compete in any sporting event but especially for track. Sprint shoes are specially made shoes to enhance your performance, lend speed and traction as well as keep you from slipping and falling on rough ground. Every race needs an advantage a sprint shoes can give sprinters that little extra they need.

Does your child dream of becoming a youth track and field star? A good pair of track shoes is a must. Of course if the only interest your child has in running is what he can not get out of for P.E you can ignore this article, almost any running shoes will do. But if your child dreams of running for the gold in the Olympics you may want to consider a good pair of track shoes.
Track shoes for youth track and field are specially made for the event your child will be competing in. The right shoes really can make a difference. The right track shoes can help your child to learn to run in the correct and most efficient manor, give him or her traction needed to stick to the road for speed and to keep them from slipping which can cause injury to muscle and tendon.
To buy the right shoes for youth track and field you have to know the event. Each type of shoe is specifically made for particular events and running styles. Look below for a key to which shoes work best for which event.
Short distance running and sprints:
For youth track and field events under 400 meters you need a pair of sprint spikes. Sprint spikes are light weight and have very little protection at the heel but are reinforce at the ball and toe with stiff insole and spikes. Sprinters run most efficiently on the ball of their feet so the shoes are made to reflect and encourage that. Sprinters also do not want a lot of weight so these shoes will weigh under the 11 oz average and be between 6 and 8 oz in weight.
Middle distance
Middle distance runners, 1500 to 3000 meters, also need light weight shoes but these shoes should have more cushioning in the heel. These shoes will have some spikes for traction on a quick start.
Long distance runners
Youth track and field long distance runners need a good supportive shoe with all over cushioning. These shoes will have low spikes because long distance runners do not need long spikes for a fast take off but they will need some to help hold the path, track or road.
Throwers
Discus and throwers will want a pair of shoes that have no or almost no tread on them, the slicker the bottom of the shoe the better momentum that will be created during the spin.
Javelin throwers and pole vaulters
In youth track and field the javelin throwers and pole vaulters need to plant their feet to make the most use of momentum and power. The shoes worn by these athletes should have longer spikes that go from heel to toe to make planting their feet easier.

People who run, either professionally or just for fun and exercise, will benefit from wearing the right spiked shoes. Spiked shoes are useful because they give you the right traction for the ground you are running on. Regular running shoes without spikes will not give you the best grip for the surface. Spiked shoes however can give you the grip you need when you need it.
A slip while running can cause serious injury to muscles and tendons, spiked shoes keep your feet firmly planted where you set them. These shoes will keep you from a nasty slip or fall that could not only result in injury but also in time taken away from running to heal. A very bad fall could even cause you a permanent injury keeping you from the sport forever.
Another reason for wearing spiked shoes is the fact that they enhance your running speed. People who run in races need every advantage they can get during a race or training. Spiked shoes give them that extra grip they need to put more power into their stride.
The biggest advantage a runner may have over the competition is the right mental focus and mindset. You can not run effectively if you are worried about your feet. Wearing a pair of spiked shoes can keep your mind off your feet and firmly in the race where it belongs.
Not all spiked shoes are created equal however; there are different shapes and sizes of spiked shoes. Each sport has a spike shape and size that works best for it. For instance cross country runners will want spiked shoes with longer spikes. This is due to the differences in terrain they will need to cross. Long spikes can sink into a muddy slippery trail and anchor your feet to firm ground and allow you to keep on your feet and impetus to power through mud. Wearing spiked shoes with long spikes on a track however could cause serious problems. The longer spikes on these spiked shoes will not be able to grip the track properly and will throw you off your stride if not force you to slip and fall.
The right kinds of spiked shoes are an advantage to runners. They keep them from falling or slipping and getting injured. They also add to your running ability. Due to the added traction you will enjoy more power and speed when you run. The wrong kind of spiked shoes for your particular sport however can be detrimental and cause accidents.

Fact: The best shoes in the world will not help you if you are not quick.

To the dedicated athlete,

I have two questions for you:

1. Have you ever wondered why, no matter how hard you train or which programs you follow, you still have just “average speed”, or even worse.. you’re slow?

2. Or why some of your friends seem to have been born with that “attention-getting” speed and quickness we all want, while you were born with two slow feet and little or no explosiveness to speak of?

If so, then you’ve come to the right place.

You see, on the very page you’re reading at this very moment, I’m going to reveal to you the one reason why every training program you’ve used up to this point has never worked for you.

And then, I’m going to tell you about the most important “speed-getting” solution ever discovered to transform you way beyond “slow” or even “average speed” to the exact place you want to be – the TOP — in just 9 minutes a day.

The Problem: The Straight-Ahead Saga

For years, going back to the 1950’s, coaches and trainers thought that athletes were either “born” fast or they weren’t and there was nothing you could do about it.

Athletes who WEREN’T born with breakneck speed and quickness were relegated to sit on the bench and “fade away” in the background forever..

But then a few decades later, things changed..

In sports like track and field, specifically the 100m dash and other similar events, coaches found that athletes could in fact increase their speed, through specific training methods.

These methods included things like back squats, deadlifts and “straight-ahead” sprints for a certain distance.

So, these coaches took these methods and figured, “Hey.. if we can make these sprinters faster like this, then we can just do the same things with our basketball and football and baseball players and we’ll be able to make them faster and quicker too.”

The most important thing about track and field is track and field training. Training will help you to not just gain stamina but speed as well. One type of training that can help you is using speed work and intervals in your training program.
Speed work and intervals in track and field training can help you to become a faster runner. Just running the same pace all of the time can help you to build stamina but will not do much for your speed. You have to get your legs used to speed for before you can use the speed. There fore you need to run a lot of intervals to gain speed.
The first thing you need to do when you are in track and field training is to decide what race you want to run. If you want to train for 5k race you will need to run intervals of ¼, ½ and ¾ mile intervals. If you want to run a longer distance like a marathon you will need to do intervals of 2 or 4 miles.
Intervals during your track and field training get your legs used to using speed. Running regular intervals while training can help your body to adjust to running at a faster speed for long distances while also increasing your stamina. The more intervals you run at full speed the faster you body will become accustomed to the speed and the more you will be able to use it.
Speed track and field training will take time to learn. You did not start out being able to run very far so why expect to be faster right away but if you work at it diligently you will soon run as fast as you want to. Take small steps when first starting a speed training regime so you do not over extend and gradually increase your distance as well as speed.
Another aspect that should be considered is the shoes you wear for training. The right spiked running shoes can benefit training by keeping your feet firmly planted where they are placed while the wrong shoes can cause you to get hurt by slipping.
Always remember when you are track and field training to always wear the correct running shoes for your type of racing. Not wearing the right shoes can cause injuries to muscles and tendons that can curb your running.

All sports have special gear you need to play. From the helmet and heavy pads of football to the flame retardant uniforms of NASCAR drivers each sport has something you must wear to compete. Running is no different. If you are a runner then you know that the gear you need is the correct pair of shoes. For long distance races many runners are now wearing racing flats to run.
Racing flats are similar to many shoes in that they do cover and protect your feet but they have several differences that are considered very advantageous to racing. Racing flats are light in weight. While most shoes are around 9 to 11 oz racing flats generally weigh in at between 6 and 8 oz. That may not seem like much but is a great deal to someone who is not used to such a light shoe.
Another way racing flats are different, and probably the most important one is the total lack of heel support. Racing flats are completely flat. These shoes have no support at all for the heel of the foot. The most efficient way of running requires you to run on the ball of your foot; racing flats are made to be completely flat to force you to run in the most efficient manor.
Flats also do not have any spikes on them and most do not have any tread to speak of either. This allows for a better ground to foot power transfer. The lack of cushioning in the shoe allows you to have more contact with the road, track or path.
Running flats do not last as long as a regular pair of shoes would however. The lack of cushioning in these shoes reduces their life span by about half as compared to other shoes. It is also not recommended to wear the racing flats while training.
When in training you should wear your regular running shoes. Racing flats do not have any cushioning in them so they could hurt your feet after an extended time. Although there have been several studies that show the cushioning in regular running shoes can actually injure your foot and legs. This is due to the arch and heel support that is engineered as a correctional support. If you do not actually need correctional support then you should not use it.
Racing flats are specially made shoes for racing. They offer all the benefits of barefoot running while still giving you the protection from road debris.

ASICS is really a running spike company established in the 1950s that makes a speciality of running and athletic footwear. The name ASICS is an acronym for Anima Sana In Corpore Sano which is Latin for Audio Thoughts in a very Audio Body. And just because the companys title suggests, ASICS shoes place the wellness of your ft 1st; the business has been on the forefront with the improvement of new running spike technologies designed to guard and cushion the bones, joints and tendons of your ft. Just what type of technologies has ASICS developed?

Features this kind of as Impact Steerage Program (I.G.S.), biomorphic fit technologies and Twist GEL, to name several. Lets take a speedy appear at a few of the most revolutionary functions ASICS working sneakers can provide you.Impact Guidance Program (I.G.S)! In brief, IGS can be a program created up of many components that function collectively so that you can offer you a clean ride.

Essentially the most crucial capabilities from the Impact Guidance System are solyte and V-Trusses. Solyte is a copolymer that’s utilized to fabricate the midsole. What’s unique about solyte is that it weighs up to 50% much less than other polymers frequently accustomed to make the midsole. Not just is this great for pace, it also means that the midsole is extremely flexible and wont get in the way with the normal stride of your foot. Solyte is known for its shock absorption and tear strength.

V-trusses, however, are accustomed to give structure to the shoe, and they have an effect on the sneakers rigidity. Various folks (or should I say different ft) need various amounts of rigidity or support. Shoes with only a few V-Trusses supply light cushioning while footwear with the greatest V-Trusses supply maximum cushioning and may act as a brace. All ASICS are constructed having a gel cushioning program.

The objective is to develop a running spike shoe that offers a gentle influence with out collapsing too rapidly. Twist GEL is a type of gel-cushion that’s designed to respond in multiple directions just like the fatty tissue around the ball of one’s toes. Which brings us to biomorphic suit technologies the thought that your shoes really should fit in such a way that they promote the organic, healthful rhythm of the feet in movement.

Using running spikes is a great choice for anybody involved in cross country running. If you are a member of a running club and enter races or you just run around fields. There will definitely be a great pair of spiked running shoes for you. We all use spikes mainly for the grip. We all fell much comfortable with regular running shoes if we go jogging around parks. But if we want to run on grass or soil tracks or any kind of cross country trails, spikes gives us complete support for a wonderful running experience. The Specialized cross country running spikes are a very good idea for off road running, because they have longer teeth and provides very good grip. Using this type of spikes you will be able to face the different racing conditions.

100-meter sprinter will not be ideal for 10, 00-meter events; there are generally three main categories of track spikes—pin, pyramid and compression tier. Most are made from steel, metal or ceramic. Cross-country running shoes need more grip, so the spikes are bigger with a pyramidal or needle shape and can often be found on the sides of the shoes too.

Cross-Country

Cross-country spikes are designed particularly for off-track running. These spikes are lighter than regular running shoes, and track runners can use them when training at slower speeds because they provide cushioning and support. It’s an ideal choice for muddy conditions. Christmas tree pins manufactured with rough edges are common with this type of shoe.

Middle Distances

Middle distance runners or people running 800-meter events or longer use spikes. This shoe’s sole is usually designed to be less rigid than that of short-distance sprinting spikes. Middle-distance running spikes are a bit heavier than short distance running shoes. Both pyramid and narrower pins are used with Middle distance spikes.

Long Distances

Long distance shoes must have the ability to provide padding and support. This kind of shoes have a shorter size pin is common. The number of pins on these shoes generally falls anywhere from six for small distances and 3 to 4 for longer distances.
